Our Reisterstown School offers a full range of
clinical services, which support our students’ social and emotional growth and success in school. Social workers conduct
weekly individual therapy sessions, family therapy if appropriate, expressive therapies, and issue-focused and support groups.
Social workers also collaborate with other agencies and mental health professionals. Therapy groups change from year
to year, depending on the needs of the students and may include Sisterhood, Sexual Awareness, Cultural Awareness, and social
skills groups.
Our psychiatrists conduct evaluations and provide consultation services to staff and families and, when appropriate,
prescribe medications to students. Lab work is provided by outside labs, and with parental approval, results are provided
to the nurse. Hannah More has a full time and part time nurse on staff.
Our psychologist consults with staff, conducts evaluations, and co-leads therapy groups.
Hannah More provides substance abuse counseling and education including: early identification and intervention programs
for substance abusers; drug and alcohol screening (with parental approval); and, individual and group substance abuse counseling.
The clinical services department offers a peer mediation program to train student mediators in the non-violent resolution
of disputes between fellow students. We also conduct quarterly Gay/Straight Alliance meetings and periodic Open Forums on
a range of topics relevant to students.
Parents and families are encouraged to participate in family counseling. Family counseling is provided at the Reisterstown
campus and at a location in Anne Arundel
County.
Hannah More’s Parent Association meets regularly and sponsors activities throughout the year.
Clinical services in our Type II Schools include individual and group counseling, social skills groups, and speech
therapy. Psychiatric consultation is part of our program at our school located at Chesapeake
High School.
Speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy are available and provided as identified on student’s
IEPs. Other related services (e.g. orientation and mobility) are provided as needed.
